Bandwidth Appoints Chip Schroeder to Board of Directors

Bandwidth has appointed Chip Schroeder, a former managing director at investment firm Silver Lake, to its board of directors as the cloud communications company continues to expand its enterprise technology business.

The appointment took effect on October 28, 2026, bringing Bandwidth’s board to six members, four of whom are independent directors. Schroeder brings experience in technology investing, corporate strategy and board leadership across businesses in digital infrastructure, financial technology, software and entertainment.

The appointment comes as Bandwidth serves enterprise customers through cloud-based voice calling, messaging and emergency communication services, while exploring how artificial intelligence is changing business communications.

Bandwidth Chip Schroeder Appointment Adds Technology Investment Experience

Schroeder spent more than a decade at Silver Lake, working in its Menlo Park and New York offices before becoming a managing director. During his tenure, he worked with leadership teams at technology and technology-enabled businesses on strategic growth, capital allocation and long-term value creation.

His board experience includes Blackhawk Network, Cast & Crew, Clubessential Holdings, Oak View Group and Shadowbox Studios, among other companies.

The experience spans several industries and business models, giving Schroeder exposure to companies operating in digital infrastructure, fintech, software and entertainment. These sectors often require decisions involving technology investment, customer acquisition, operational expansion and long-term capital planning.

For Bandwidth, this background adds another perspective to board-level discussions as the company develops its cloud communications platform and serves businesses with increasingly complex communication requirements.

Bandwidth Chip Schroeder Appointment Expands Board to Six Members

Schroeder’s election brings Bandwidth’s board to six directors, including four independent members. The company said his appointment reflects his experience advising growing technology businesses and his understanding of corporate strategy and capital markets.

Board members oversee major governance responsibilities, including management oversight, strategic direction and shareholder interests. Directors with experience across multiple technology businesses can contribute perspectives on investment priorities, market expansion and organisational growth.

Schroeder graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in history and competed on the university’s varsity rowing team. He is currently active in investing, Christian ministry and biblical studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida.

The company has not announced any specific committee assignments for Schroeder in its appointment announcement.

Bandwidth Chip Schroeder Appointment Comes as Communications Evolve

Bandwidth provides cloud communications services that businesses can integrate into applications and customer-facing systems. Its offerings include voice calling, text messaging and emergency services, supported by its Communications Cloud and network infrastructure.

The company works with technology providers and enterprise customers that require communications capabilities across different markets. Its services are used in areas such as unified communications, cloud contact centres and programmable messaging.

The communications industry is also adapting to the growth of AI-powered customer service and automated agents. Businesses are exploring systems that can handle customer interactions, initiate calls and exchange messages while relying on underlying communications infrastructure for connectivity and reliability.

Bandwidth has been developing products and integrations for this evolving environment. Schroeder’s background in technology companies and strategic growth may be relevant as the board evaluates the company’s priorities in a changing market.

Bandwidth Chip Schroeder Appointment Supports Long-Term Growth Strategy

Bandwidth co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Morken said Schroeder brings experience in go-to-market strategy, corporate strategy and capital markets, developed through his work with large technology businesses across different sectors and market cycles.

Morken also highlighted Schroeder’s appreciation of Bandwidth’s culture as the company continues to scale.

Schroeder said he looks forward to working with Bandwidth’s leadership team, noting the company’s role in serving major enterprises as AI creates new opportunities in communications.

The appointment does not include new financial targets or a change to Bandwidth’s operating strategy. Instead, it adds a director whose professional experience includes advising technology companies on growth, investment decisions and long-term business development.

As enterprise communications continue to evolve, Bandwidth’s board will oversee decisions involving its platform, customer relationships, infrastructure and opportunities created by AI-driven services. Schroeder’s appointment adds another experienced technology investor to that governance structure.
