ONLYOFFICE 10.0 adds AI tools and stronger security to open source office suite

ONLYOFFICE has launched version 10.0 of its open-source office suite, introducing context-aware AI tools, modular applications and a significant security upgrade across its online, desktop and mobile editors.

The autumn release brings around 50 new features and more than 1,000 fixes, positioning the latest version as a broader productivity platform rather than simply a collection of document editing tools.

The update puts AI directly inside documents, spreadsheets, presentations and PDFs while giving organizations greater control over the AI models they use and where sensitive information is processed.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 brings AI directly into office editors

A major focus of ONLYOFFICE 10.0 is the integration of AI tools directly into its editors.

A dedicated AI tab with built-in chat allows users to draft, summarize, translate, rewrite, clean up and format content without leaving the document they are working on. The system also supports ready-made prompts, custom AI actions, assistants and saved prompts for repetitive workflows.

The approach is designed to reduce the need to move information between an office application and a separate AI platform.

For example, legal teams can use AI to summarize contracts, analysts can work with forecasts and Pivot Tables, while business teams can turn ideas into structured presentations.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 gives organizations more AI model control

The new release also emphasizes flexibility in how organizations deploy AI.

Users and businesses can select AI models based on factors such as quality, speed and cost. Cloud users can enable ONLYOFFICE AI through OpenRouter, while server deployments can connect different models, including locally deployed AI systems.

This model could be particularly relevant for organizations handling confidential business information. Rather than requiring sensitive documents to be sent to an external AI service, server deployments can connect AI capabilities to models running within an organization’s own infrastructure.

ONLYOFFICE says its open architecture allows organizations to decide how AI is integrated into their workflows.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 introduces modular apps for business workflows

The update also introduces four free modular applications designed to extend ONLYOFFICE Docs.

AI Agents adds intelligent search, personalized knowledge bases and extended reasoning capabilities, with support for MCP servers. Forms focuses on collecting information and analyzing responses, while Files provides centralized document storage with access controls.

Rooms is designed for secure collaboration and includes support for Virtual Data Rooms intended for confidential content.

The applications are enabled by default in the cloud version, while server users can install them with a single command.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 expands PDF and document editing features

Beyond AI, the release adds a wide range of improvements across the office suite.

The PDF Editor now includes metadata removal, customizable annotations, automatic table recognition and reusable signatures. The Document Editor adds real-time cursor tracking between co-authors, improved document layout controls and more reliable right-to-left language support.

Spreadsheet performance has also been improved, with optimized functions, formula hints and a redesigned copy experience. Presentation users receive additional viewing modes, expanded print settings and the ability to export slides as GIFs or videos.

The platform also adds support for OFD files, spreadsheet saving in XLS format, editable SVG shapes and Data Tables for charts.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 strengthens security for AI-driven workplaces

Security is another major component of the release. ONLYOFFICE says version 10.0 addresses 35 vulnerabilities as organizations increasingly use AI tools to process sensitive business information.

The platform supports open-source deployment, encryption and local AI models, giving organizations options for keeping data within controlled infrastructure.

The emphasis on security is particularly relevant as enterprises increasingly combine productivity software with generative AI. Companies need to balance the productivity gains offered by AI with concerns around confidential documents, intellectual property and data governance.

ONLYOFFICE 10.0 expands desktop and mobile capabilities

The new version also brings changes to the desktop and mobile experience.

Desktop Editors receive a refreshed homepage, redesigned Templates and Clouds sections, Odoo integration and visual improvements for Linux users. In Desktop Community, AI capabilities are available as an optional add-on.

The free iOS and Android applications also receive an AI assistant with additional providers, along with AI AutoFill for forms and voice input.

With more than 21 million users worldwide according to the company, ONLYOFFICE is positioning version 10.0 as a significant step toward an AI-enabled open-source productivity ecosystem.

The release reflects a wider shift in office software, where document creation and collaboration are increasingly being combined with AI assistance, automation and enterprise security controls.
